Geliga Slipway Sdn Bhd was incorporated in Malaysia on the 11th October 1983 (Registration No. 12498/93, Tempatan 107844-T) with the authorized and paid-up capitals of RM 1,000,000.00. The company is one of the associates in the Sumai Group of Companies.
Initially, GSSB operates at Kawasan Perindustrian Jakar focusing on repair and maintenance of Sumai owned vessels and commercial boats in the vicinity. After a few years of successful operation, Geliga Slipway extended its services and registered as a Government Contractor for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair under category "DD". In 1998, GSSB shiftted its entire operation to Bukit Kuang along Sungai Chukai. This yard is fully equipped with modern facilities for shipbuilding and shiprepair activities i.e Three slipways (400DWT, 600DWT and 1,000DWT complete with transfer rails to Main Hangers), One 2,000 DWT Dry Dock - 90m (L) x 18m (W) x 6m (H), Two Shipbuilding Hangers complete with
2 x 25 Tons Overhead Cranes, Multi-Workshops, Offices, Stores, Surau, Meeting Room and Recreation Site.
Currently, the client of GSSB includes The Royal Malaysian Navy, Royal Malaysian Police (Marine Branch), National Maritime Enforcement Agency, Malaysian Customs, Esso Production (Malaysia) Incorporation, Fisheries Department, Marine Department and Kuantan Port Authority. Besides the common activities on shipbuilding and shiprepair services, GSSB also has the facilities and vast experience on specialist works i.e Maintenance of Gun (Bofors 40/L 70 and Oerlikon), Navigational Aids Equipments, Maintenance of Offshore Marine Hoses and Laying/Trenching of Submarine pipelines.
GSSB is a certified ISO 9001:2000 company and registered as a member of Association of the Marine Industries of Malaysia (AMIM) since the year 1987.
